Christopher Clary is an artist and organizer using new media to make interactive works that we can live through and expand with to know our own affective, queer selves.


Bio
As an artist, Clary’s Rhizome commission was named by Hyperallergic as the best individual work of Internet art in 2016, acquired by the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, and exhibited at Graphische Sammlung ETH Zurich in 2019. Rhizome additionally accessioned their Tumblr in 2023. Other highlights include an award from the New Jersey Council on the Arts, nomination at Les Rencontres d’Arles, exhibit at Art Book in China, reading at MISS READ Berlin, performance at Palais de Tokyo, review in Art in America, and profile in Elephant magazine.

As an organizer, Clary evolved their series, The Chrisy Show from a one-person live stream performance into an artist, streaming collective through the support of an Eyebeam fellowship and NEW INC membership with awards from Meta Open Arts, Gray Area, Goethe Institute, and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. The collective will be performing and exhibiting this fall at the Museum of the Moving Image with support from ONX Studio. Clary also co-organized with publishers GenderFail and Larker a year of queer programming for the International Center of Photography that included the work of American Artist, Morehshin Allahyari, Nora Khan, Porpentine Charity Heartscape, and SHAWNÉ MICHAELAIN HOLLOWAY.
